“National Ecology Day” Fireflies at Tai Po Kau
To promote the concepts of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" and ecological civilisation, the country has designated August 15 as “National Ecology Day” in 2023. This August, on Saturday and Sunday evenings, Country Park Volunteers will be on duty at Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve to promote to the public the dos and don'ts of watching fireflies.
Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve is one of the popular spots for observing fireflies. Over the years, multiple species have been recorded here, including Pygoluciola qingyu, and Pyrocoelia lunata. When you appreciate fireflies, please avoid affecting them and refrain from disturbing wildlife.
