“National Ecology Day” Fireflies at Tai Po Kau

Every year, 15th August is the National Ecology Day, which aims to enhance the public awareness towards pursuing ecological civilisation and environmental protection. In response to the National Ecology Day, our country park volunteers are going to share tips on observing fireflies to the public at Tai Po Kau. Summer nights provide a great opportunity to observe nocturnal animals, including fireflies. Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve is one of the favourable spots for observing fireflies. Country park volunteers will station at Tai Po Kau during weekends of August and September 2025, and on National Ecology Day – 15th August 2025. They will also promote hiking safety, hiking etiquette and ecological security to visitors.
