Why do leaves turn red?
RedLeaf_TTG_2022_banner_2_20220928.jpg

Leaf cells not only contain chlorophyll, but also carotenoids and anthocyanin. In autumn, dry weather, low temperature, and strong sunlight accelerate the decomposition of chlorophyll. This facilitates leaf cells to produce anthocyanin while the carotenoids are unaffected. Consequently, we can see the phenomenon of leaves turning yellow and red in autumn.
